Guy Ellis, MD, Gack Consulting

Guy Ellis graduated from the University of Auckland, New Zealand in 1990 and immediately moved to the United Kingdom. Following Human Resources roles at Hewlett Packard, Bank of America, Citibank, joined NatWest Global Financial Markets as Human Resources Director and Global Head of Front Office. In 2000, Guy joined Aon Limited as HR Director of its UK Consulting Division.
In 2003 Guy set up Gack Consulting to provide strategic consulting and operational support to clients implementing people based projects. Drawing upon his wide Human Resources experience, business knowledge and passion for ensuring that plans are implemented well, Guy has worked with global clients on a range of UK, EMEA and Global briefs. 
Following extensive research with blue chip companies, Guy published “Tales of Talent: A Modern Fable for Today’s Managers” in 2006.   Written in an engaging, story-telling style, this book on organisational strategy and talent management provides decision makers with common sense solutions to aligning their employees and organisational objectives.
Guy is an international speaker and trainer who regularly delivers bespoke seminars and courses to groups of management professionals. His core themes include talent management, organisation and employee alignment, HR strategy, the future role of Human Resources and any of the subjects associated with those areas.
Morgan Chambers, group head of leadership development, National Grid  
Morgan joined National Grid in 2003 and currently has responsibility for Leadership Development and Talent across the group, focusing on the top 300 in the business.
 
Morgan has a Masters in Occupational Psychology and has worked in a number of HR roles including Industrial Relations Advisor for NZ Refining Co, Head of HR in NZ and Canada including Head of Learning and Development for EMEA for American Express, and latterly Global OD Director for Reed Elsevier based in London prior to joining National Grid.  
Simon Jones, acting chief executive, Investors in  People

Formerly Director of Finance & Strategic Planning and Company Secretary for Investors in People UK, Simon Jones took over the helm in an interim capacity from Ruth Spellman, IIP UK’s previous Chief Executive on the 1st December 2006.  As Director of Finance and Strategic Planning Simon not only led on business and resource management planning he also managed a number of key strategic partnerships as well as the cross-sector development of Human Capital Management metrics for the investment community.

As Acting Chief Executive, Simon’s aim is to work with IIPUK’s Chairman, its Board, its stakeholders and employees to ensure that IIPUK and its delivery partners are fit for purpose and help UK businesses and organisations improve their productivity through better people management, leadership, engagement and investment in skills.

Prior to IIPUK Simon worked for a number of organisations within Central Government, the National Health Service, English Heritage and a number of commercial companies working on resource management, reform, change management, strategy and operations.
Simon is a qualified accountant and is committed to continuing professional development for both himself and others.  He is also a member of the Institute of Directors, and an alumni of the University of Sheffield where he read Politics.
 
 
Philip Holder, managing director of Staged Coaching Ltd

With a background in performing arts and over 15 years experience in gained in Executive Coaching, Leadership and Management Development,  Philip is an Entrepreneurial and Charismatic ‘Executive Master Coach’ who specialises in Talent Transformation, Recruitment and Retention. Utilising his specific expertise in Behavioural and Attitudinal Development, he combines both his professional expertise and study in cognitive science, with his personal experience of business leadership and consulting.

Phil Nunnerley, former director, people management, Lloyds TSB

Phil graduated from Kent University in 1969 and joined Lloyds Bank. He spent most of his career within the UK Retail Bank. In 1994 he was appointed Regional Director and following the merger with TSB was one of the two Network Directors appointed to lead the combined network of 2000 branches. During this time he led the Retail Bank to achieving IIP accreditation. A number of strategic roles in Head Office followed and in his final year before retiring last September he was Director, People Development. Not idle in retirement he is a non executive Director of Bank of Cyprus (UK), Rural Payments Agency (part of DEFRA), and the Rugby Football Union for Women. He is also a Governor of Wellington School, Trustee of St. Peters Hospice, and IIP UK Ambassador, Business mentor with Princes Trust and provides mentoring support to a number of organisations and senior executives.
 
Jasper Self, director of talent management, Christian Salvesen PLC

Jasper joined Christian Salvesen as Director of Talent Management in June 2006.  He is responsible for talent management, senior recruitment, and succession planning, with a focus on the appointment of senior positions and critical roles in the organisation, Jasper works closely with the Managing Directors and the HR Directors of the Business Units.

Jasper has over 10 years experience in Human Resources, most recently working for Hudson, a specialised recruitment and Human Resource consultancy where he worked in the Supply Chain and Logistics sectors.   Prior to this, Jasper successfully ran his own business.
