Poor communication causes ‘daily crisis’

The majority of executives and managers claim that poor communication is one of the core causes of the "crisis of the day" in business today. More than half (65 per cent) of leaders argue that by the time a problem comes to them it is weeks old and harder to act upon, the NFI Research study suggests. The result is most senior executives and managers (79 per cent) have to drop something else to address the problem, seriously harming productivity.

“The results are significant,” said Chuck Martin from NFI Research. “Mixed messages can easily lead to distractions as managers are forced to focus on the wrong issues.”

Unsurprisingly, it seems to be larger organisations that suffer the most, with executives and managers from smaller companies mostly agreeing that customers are the main cause of their daily problems.

NFI Research has some of the world’s most renowned companies as their members, including a host of organisations from Fortune Magazine’s 100 top companies.
